This policy brief, delivered at the mid-term stage of the WhiteCycle project, aims to provide policymakers with an overview of the challenges and key recommendations identified by the project consortium that are affecting the deployment and implementation of the projects related to complex and technical textiles circularity. It focuses on identifying critical enablers and barriers within the current and future policy landscape that influence the success and scalability of similar initiatives.
W4TEX’s 'Ideathon' materials and templates
The W4TEX project developed and demonstrated innovative 'ideathon' events for engaging with learners, especially focused on those coming from the project target groups of women and migrants. The materials, templates, and a trainers guide are available, along with descriptions of how these events were carried out in both national and transnational contexts around Europe.
JUST FASHION’s Draft Overview of supporting sustainability strategy tools for fashion (M)SMEs
This deliverable maps and evaluates sustainability strategy tools designed to support the transition of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the fashion sector. Based on an assessment of 11 tools, it examines their strengths, limitations and suitability across four categories: informational, brainstorming and team-building, assessment, and strategic planning tools. The report provides practical guidance to help fashion businesses identify appropriate resources for their sustainability transformation, while highlighting gaps in social responsibility and policy guidance.
JUST FASHION’S Draft of Sustainable Business Model Canvas
The Fashion & Sustainability Business Model Canvas is a practical tool developed by the Just Fashion project to help fashion micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) assess, rethink and develop more sustainable and circular business models. Building on the traditional Business Model Canvas, it incorporates environmental, social, economic and cultural considerations, alongside fashion-specific value chain activities and guided reflection questions. Designed for both established and emerging fashion brands, it supports strategic planning, collaborative discussions and the identification of opportunities for sustainable business model innovation.
JUST FASHION’s Draft Overview of technology cases for circular fashion
This deliverable presents a curated database of technologies, innovations and practical use cases supporting the transition towards a more circular fashion and textile industry. Covering different stages of the product lifecycle, it explores how technological solutions can improve resource efficiency, traceability, product design, circular business models and waste reduction, complemented by examples of technology providers and real-world applications. The database serves as an exploratory resource for fashion companies, designers, researchers and sustainability professionals seeking to identify opportunities for technology-driven circular transformation.
VERDEinMED’s Trainer Handbook 1: Global dimension of textiles
The first VERDEinMED Trainer Handbook, titled “Global Dimension of Textiles”, aims to develop a skilled workforce through knowledge sharing, fostering experienced professionals in the Textile and Clothing Industry with a focus on circular strategies and textile waste management.
CISUTAC’s Public Procurement Guidelines for Textiles
CISUTAC guidelines support contracting authorities in integrating circular economy principles into the procurement of professional textiles, with a focus on workwear, uniforms and PPE. They provide practical recommendations, tools and good practices across the full procurement cycle and builds on existing European, national and regional guidance, as well as insights from EU-funded projects and stakeholder consultations.
Green-tex Solutions
The Green-Tex Solutions publication presents the outcomes of the Interreg Danube Region project Enhancing Danube Green Textiles and Garment Production and Consumption (Green-Tex), showcasing nine practical circular economy solutions tested across three pilot areas: (i) smart textile waste collection, (ii) wider use of natural fibres and (iii) green fashion design. Implemented across nine Danube Region countries, these solutions demonstrate transferable approaches that support the transition to a circular textile economy and facilitate the adoption of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) systems.
VERDEinMED’s Technical Assistance for Textile and Clothing SMEs - Proof of Concept Report
Within VERDEinMED project, specialised Technical Assistance Services (TAS) were provided to beneficiary Textile and Clothing SMEs in the participating Mediterranean countries. The TAS activities were delivered in ongoing mentoring schemas through a mix of webinars, face‑to‑face meetings, individual counseling sessions, group workshops and remote support, ensuring effective engagement and meaningful progress toward market readiness.

TRUSTex's Draft Deliverable - Governance aspects of the DPP in the textile sector
The report addresses the data management requirements of actors in the textile sector when aligning their strategies and operations with the objectives of the 'Textile Strategy' and their implementation in the ESPR with regard to the DPP.
TRUSTex's Draft Deliverable Environmental impacts
This deliverable presents the main learnings from the literature analysis which was
focused on the following aspects: environmental hotspots (in terms of life cycle stages as well as of environmental impact categories), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
methodological choices, impacts related to the release of microplastics and substances of concern, and eco-design insights in the textile sector.
TRUSTex's Draft Deliverable - Regulatory Landscape Analysis Report
This document evaluates and maps the current and future regulatory framework in the EU, Member States and in third countries affecting textile waste, digitalisation, and sustainability. The Regulatory Landscape Analyse (RLA) looks into how the regulations, initiatives and strategies enable or hinder the circularity strategies. It also contains a draft list of potential SoC under ESPR regulation.
TRUSTex's Draft deliverable on Material flow and circular model analysis
The deliverable provides a structured analysis of the textile value chain and identifies key barriers and improvement pathways toward circularity. The objective is to establish a shared analytical framework for the TRUSTex project, enabling a systemic understanding of material flows, value retention opportunities and structural bottlenecks across the sector.
Enzymatic hydrolysis: demonstrating mixed textile-waste recycling at pilot scale
PDF training material from the PLASTICE project demonstrating the scale-up of the enzymatic hydrolysis process for mixed cotton/polyester textile waste, from lab to pilot scale. It covers the full demonstration chain: textile sorting, shredding and alkaline pretreatment, enzymatic hydrolysis, polyester recovery, and yarn/fabric production to close the fibre-to-fibre recycling loop.
Enzymatic hydrolysis: a green approach to separate waste streams for recycling
Training material from the PLASTICE project explaining how enzymatic hydrolysis can separate cotton from polyester in mixed textile waste, enabling recovery and recycling of both components. It covers the technological process from fabric pretreatment to recovery of polyester and sugars, developed within a pilot plant for cotton/polyester textile blend recycling.
Understanding Industry and Education Needs in Sustainable Textiles and Fashion
IMASUS conducted two international surveys and a follow-up analysis to better understand the current needs, gaps, and opportunities in sustainable and innovative textile materials.
