How Can We Create Value from Our Textile Waste?

SorTex invites companies, municipalities, and other stakeholders to a workshop on 3 September (10:00–16:00) in Herning, Denmark, focused on how textile material flows can be transformed into sustainable and profitable solutions.

A Practical Perspective on Business in Circular Textile Streams

As more and more textiles are collected, new material streams emerge that need to be managed, but they only create real value when they are connected to business models that actually work.

SorTex works closely with the practical sorting and handling of textiles. It is clear that even small, practical factors (such as quality, material composition, contamination and handling in the early stages) play a significant role in determining which business opportunities are actually viable.

This is exactly where the workshop begins: not with whether textile waste can become a resource, but with how it can be turned into a viable business opportunity.

The workshop brings together participants from across the value chain to explore how real material streams can be connected to sustainable business models, both today and in the future.

The workshop will primarily be held in Danish, but some presentations and dialogues may be in English.

What we will work on during the day:

Throughout the day, SorTex will focus on the connection between materials and business. SorTex will:

  • take a closer look at specific textile streams – and what creates opportunities and what sets limitations

  • identify the factors that determine whether a solution can become profitable and scalable

  • explore how reuse, redesign, repurposing and recycling can become viable business opportunities

  • discuss roles and value creation across the value chain

  • develop and test ideas for business models
